  1. a picture of the wiring diagram connections for different options would be so much better than all these words. I am still lost. HOW DO I CONNECT THE WIRES ON MY JENSEN1. TO 1. GO ON automatically in reverse and 2 go on when i press the bottom. where is this drawing?????

  2. You lost me at, …”but we still don’t yet have the ability to see the automated, backup camera.” What do you mean by automated backup camera? In this segment, I thought you were only talking about full-time rear camera power. And why would you need reverse hookup in this segment?

  3. I have a 2023 f-150 with the factory sync 4 display. I purchased a third brake light camera (PCAM-CHMSL2-FD15)to have additionally with my factory tailgate camera. I want this third brake light activated only by one of the factory aux switches. Right now I have the camera installed on the third brake light, cable ran to the front of the truck. The red wire is connected to the aux switch wiring which is hot all the time(12 volt power),the black wire is connected to the chassis. The part I’m confused on is getting the display to switch over when the aux switch is activated. From what I can see on the back of the display there is no rc connectors or trigger wires,so where do I tap into and I also have one more wire which is labelled (reverse power anode output).

    Thanks in advance…

  4. My stereo reconsidered that car going into revere through canbus I believe and my camera is getting 12v but still no signal. Do I still need to connect my red wire with signal wire to backup trigger wire

  5. Recently purchased a head unit (Boss bv850acp) and camera from Crutchfield. I followed your instructions in the video using the convenience wire to attach the camera to the head-unit Reverse wire (Violet/White). However, the wiring instruction sheet I received states I should connect the head-unit Violet/White Reverse wire to the car's (2009 Sonata Limited) Blue Reverse Trigger wire (Location: Pin #2 of 8-pin gray plug at radio or pin #3 of 18-pin brown plug in driver's kick panel). I also was sent and wired up the Metra 70-7303 harness. Do I have to do the wiring instruction sheet step if i followed the wiring you suggested? Thanks

  6. Nowadays most cameras come with built lights…

If you wire for constant power will the camera lights always be on? How would it know to turn the lights on?

  7. So it is safe enough to use the convenience wire to power the camera? Some people say its too thin to power the camera over such a long distance. It sure would make my installation a lot easier if I can just use the convenience wire to power the camera off my android head unit which has 12v output for the camera.

  8. Can anyone tell me do I need to use the convenience wire if my radio already triggers the reverse camera screen when in reverse (even tho camera is not hooked in yet)
Trying to plan in advance, also can I use electrical connectors, not solder the cables? Thank you

  9. Hi there, I hooked up my backup camera to my 2001 silverado, it works very well in the run ignition position. However when the engine is running, there is some horizontal line interference showing. Not terrible but noticeable. All my soldering connections look fine as well as the few crimps I used. Any idea how to get rid of it?

  10. This is a very helpful video. Although while looking at radios for my car (2006 Mazda Tribute) the description warns me that the reverse wire uses a negative signal. So I'm guessing the backup lights are ultimately wired and switched off of the negative pole, so that if I wire up the trigger wire for a camera it probably won't sense the voltage because it's looking for a positive 12v signal. It mentioned the use of a relay to use that negative backup lamp circuit to trip on a positive wire to rectify that, but after looking around and can't really figure out what kind of relay to use for that, do you guys have that on Crutchfield or could point me in the right direction?

  11. So I want to hook my reverse camera to a 3 prong switch on my dash. If I hook up the convenience wire to the battery (gonna use a relay connected to me accessory), should/Could I just connect the convenience wire and trigger wire to the switch and use the rear ground wire to complete the circuit?? I sure wish there was a convenience ground wire up at the head as well…

  12. Hello!! I paid to get it installed & they wired to the taillight.. I can do everything else but I don’t know where to wire the purple wire now. I have a 2013 Honda Civic 1.8 DX. Where can I find the reverse light circuit to wire to? Thanks!

  13. I was struggling to get my camera to work until I watched this video. Excellent instruction! I had watched a few others that didn't quite get unto this level of detail, which you helped identify what i was missing. I do have a question though: I am powering mine directly to the stereo 12v acc, which works great, but the camera LEDs are always on. Is there anything I can do? I don't want to go the switch route.

  14. Can you spice an rca to rear cam wiring from cambus / head unit. To retain factory rear cam. I saw something in regards to my question. The spiced rca would come from rear RCA in…

  15. THANK YOU!! I was going nuts wondering what that little wire is for and where it goes, and why the heck it only works in reverse lmao. Now I know what to do to fix this. Thanks again!

By the way, you need to do the second setup to be able to see the camera while adjusting parking lines… If you have it for reverse only setup, you'll have to be in reverse to adjust them in setup

  16. Thanks for the video. I’ve hooked my camera up. Unfortunately it’s coming up in black and white. Any ideas what I’ve done wrong or how to fix? Thanks
